The general complaint is flash rust.

I can't find the thread now, but I think I remember reading that the flash rust is mostly the result of the minerals in the water.

I have a couple filters that I got for washing my car that takes the minerals out that cause water spotting.

My thoughts are to run the water through these filters then to the pressure washer.
Then do rinse again with just the pressure washer to clean nooks and crannies that sand might have settled in.
