Guys a secret of the trade is to use a valve stem with an electric drill to remove any kind of glue or adhesive.

attach the valve stem to the drill from the threaded side into the chuck and use the drill on slow and with the rubber side of the stemm the part that would normally be insode the wheel rub off all the glue, adhesive etc.

then wipe it with ACRYSOL and you are done. I have ownder many chevy 1500 and the first thing we do is remove all the black trim moldings doing it this way it literally takes me 15 minutes to do the whole truck.
