Atommik, I think it is like 4". Mine are based off of Jeff's 51 but I used 3" x 3" 3/16 wall tubing. I have used 16 gauge for the stake pockets. I made a template and cut them out with my plasma cutter. I put the bend on the inside to smooth them out. I plug weld them. I have also used 2" x 4" box too. I like the box the best. After they are welded on I cap the outside on. I use 1 1/2 box for the frame work. I then use aluminium angle for the board hold downs. I drill them all and weld a nut on in the inside if the stake pockets , that is way I cap them last.
