i have the ground wired to the negative. i swapped them around and it crackled more. i know one or the other will put more heat into your work or the wire. i would think i'd want more heat in my work, but i'm not that educated in welding to make that call yet. yeah, my welds could look better but i just can't deal with creating more holes.
when i did my caddy taillights on my 01 silverado, i used a friends elec. miller with flux core. the weld quality was about the same but i didn't burn holes as much (of course the sheet metal wasn't 40 yrs old)
