heres the case- front wheel, drum brakes
is it possible that a drum with a bad bearing could be turned in reverse (clockwise) but not be able to move forward (counterclockwise)? I am working on a car for someone and I lifted the car for another reason, and I noticed that the wheel bearings were not tight enough, so I checked to see if they would spin and that's when I found the problem. It will turn a little or turn real hard or turn freely then klunk! stops hard. The brakes are backed off all the way too. I cleaned the bearings and drums real well and repacked the bearings, thinking this would do the trick because there was a lot of dirt in the old grease. But it did the same thing when I put the drum back on. And when I have the bearings just a little loose and pull out on the drum it will spin better. I suspect the inner bearing, but when I cleaned them, they all looked decent. Oh, and by the way I am a loyal Chevy man who is working on a Mustang, so I really need some help here to get it the heck out of my garage!
