Motornut, Is it illegal to drive an early 80s Subaru Brat in Canada? They have seats in the back with belts. As far as "playing safe", A shortbed has 8 bolts holding the bed to the frame. Not a few. The back seat to my Blazer is attached to the floor not the frame. Pretty sure a suburban is the same. In CA if the seat is bolted down and you have a shell bolted down with bolted seat belts, its legal. I know a retired sheriff that has done it for his grandkids.
