GM installs a 1 piece line from the pump to Carb for a reason, this is it.

I agree, I see so many cars and trucks forsale and at car shows where shadetree mechanics run a rubber fuel line from the pump to the carb. That's a big fat no no. Some tube, a flare tool, and a tube bender is all you need to make your own lines.
A little practice and it's pretty easy, doesn't take much time. Can't believe all the nice cars I see with tons of money and time spent only to use a cheap (and dangerous) rubber fuel line up to the carb. Always been a pet pieve of mine. Keep the rubber lines to a minimum and short as possible (frame to engine/sending unit to frame).
