Several possible scenerios....touch the fuel pump to see if its gettin hot.
No phenolic block under carb, isolates the heat of the engine
Fuel line close to a heat source, ie, head or intake, or exhaust pipe
Fuel filter in the wrong location
Timing
Just read a tip on the pick up side, put a couple clothes line clips(wooden), on the fuel line, supposed to dissipate the heat
May be more, but thats off the top of my head
