they're actually illegal in most states. However... it often depends. I drove with them in CA on my 66 for a good while and never got stopped. But I also always carried the stockers in my glovebox with a screwdriver to at least try the "I was just gonna change them Sir" routine. Probably wouldn't have worked. I have never, ever understood the logic as to why they are illegal - I know the reason is that taillights have to be red, but, there's no mistaking that a person's taillights are on with bluedots, or when they hit the brakes. Kind of a shame. They are certainly less annoying than those new blue headlights. I'm with ya, kinda stinks that they are illegal. They were illegal in Indiana when I was growin up there and I do know it's illegal in CA also.
