Yes, I use a stock controller and I put put a spring loaded button switch on the dash with a solenoid under the hood so that they could not be accidentaly left on. I have the good glow plugs and I can start down to -10 celcius with just plugs but I think these engines will live longer with winter oil and being plugged in below -5 or -10 celcius so I have dual block heaters and I can easily start at -20 and -30.
