bummer on the breakdown man! I guess I wasnt clear in what I was talking about: what I was referring to was the step up spring on the metering rods in the carb. I cant remember what kind of carb you are using and maybe with a turbo-blow through design they are totally different, but in my edelbrock (dont hate, they're inexpensive) the metering rods and jets are all changeable and the rods are seated in the jet by vacuum. The springs that control this are rated at different levels of vacuum, so if you have a spring rated at 9" of vacuum the rods will tend to stay out of the jets allowing more fuel flow (rich condition) as opposed to a 3" vaccum spring witch keeps the rod down in the jet easier (more lean). Hope this makes sense...
