The rectangular hole in the right (would be the front) of that panel is for the seat belt retractor. '76 is the first year of the 1/2 top, and they got 3 point belts in the front. The other holes look like they were made in the quest for sonic excellence.

Not sure of the name of the woodgrain. There is a slight bend in the front of the rear trim panels on the earlier trucks too. I don't remember them laying completely flat. If you were making some out of flat board, I don't think it would be necessary to duplicate, though. It seems like my '77 didn't have the woodgrain on the rear panels, but it has been quite a while ago. I know it was gone in the '78 and up panels.
