It sounds odd to me. The new arm should not move the connection point of the drag link in any direction but up. Front to back movement would affect the steering radius.

Just so you know,
10 bolt and Dana44 are two different things. Chevy phased-out the Dana44 in 77-78, so your '90 would have the corporate 10 bolt.
