I turned my upper and lower bushings out of aluminum. Then slit them in half. I turned flanges on both of them so they will not push through. I put the steering column where it belonged and figured out where to cut the connecting rod off at. I took a piece of round bar stock and drilled and tapped it. Then cut it at 3.5 inches. I then TIG welded it to the connecting rod. Then fit it on the column and made tabs with holes in it.Bolted it up together and TIG welded the tabs to the 1x1 box I put across the cab. Column is nice and strong. Now all I need is a wheel to steer it.
