On mine, I went with the Lokar 16" shifter for the 518, which fits almost cleanly. I originally had the 23" for the 727, but ran into issues with both the mount to the housing as well as the height and the knob hitting the dash pad. The 16" fits in cleanly, and it's a floor mount item.

The only issue I've had with that relates to the angle on the push-rod. Where I wanted it mounted (right over the original shifter hole) made the push-rod go straight down, and I needed to change that around. While it's in there fine, I think that I would have tried to go with a cable shift model instead of the push-rod.

Still haven't gotten the truck on the road, but hope to do it this weekend, and I'll let you know how it shifts.
