Could be the tire size. I have 5.5" bs on my 4.5/6" drop running a 255/40 tire on a 20x8.5" wheel and have never rubbed. The wheels were ordered to fit my truck as we're the tires. Had I planned to run bags I would have ran the same tire and wheel with a 5.25" bs so the wheel would 'lay' in more.

Not sure why you're running into issues other than the tire.
