Make sure parking brake pedal is all the way up. Then pull the cable at #5 sideways. This pulls the cable out of the sheath. Put a pair of vise grips on the cable right at the end of the sheath. This will give you room to work. Being careful, use a small screwdriver to lift the little tab that locks the cable end in. Then slide the cable out. I had to do this on one of my trucks when the adjustment nut rusted to the threaded rod.
