I have never been to Fremont; I started in Flint in 1979 as a GMI student, so we worked in all areas of the plant (inspection, production, plant engineering, labor relations, etc). After I graduated from GMI I was a production supervisor on Line 1 (pickup), Fender set area. I had 27 or so productive operations and about 37 hourly employees to accomplish that.
We built 60 pickups per hour on Line 1 and 36 Blazer/Suburbans per hour on Line 2.
Since then I have been in Engineering/Assembly and Engineering (product design and development).
I have launched new product and supported current production in Flint, Oshawa, St Louis, Janesville, Pontiac, Arlington, Silao, Ft Wayne, Mishawaka and Wentzville (all in support of LD truck) and Detroit-Hamtramck (Chevy Volt and derivatives).
