I started making these crosses as I thought my e30 (my BMW) needed one for the rearview mirror. I made one, then another for the truck, now I’m making them for my special friends’ birthdays. I’ve made two bigger ones for the mirrors, and now two necklace sized ones, with plans for a few more...
The first three were scrap steel cut into strips, welded, carefully ground into the proper shape, then heat treated to a beautiful purple/blue.
My latest one is cut from a single piece of magnesium, actually a piece of the truck’s corvette pedal cluster that I cut off. It is mirror polished on one side, and 320 grit brush-finished on the other. That way it has more character and is usable in more ways, “to shiny or not to shiny”...
Hopefully she likes it, I’m going to send it to her tomorrow...
You can see the original one in this pic of the e30... It is a permanent fixture in the 30 now...
I’ll take better pics of the two I have if desired, and better lit ones of the Mg one before it goes away ...
