Thanks WhippinSaw. Yes the one side stays open. I would say in a days work I lose about 10-15% of my blast media not a big deal. I switched back to using sand from Lowe's as it is so cheap!. The aluminum oxide cuts very well but at $42 for a bucket its too much.

One good thing about the one side being open is you can sandblast bigger stuff such as a radiator support and bumpers.

I generally blast for about 10-15 minutes before my pot runs out of media and it takes me about 20-30 minutes to pickup all the sand and sift and get the pot ready to go again. It works out because it gives my Air Compressor a chance to rest.
