is this a V-6, or an inline,? you've indicated both.
If it is a V-6, I think you can use the old towers, I have been told mine are V-6 towers, and I would believe it since that's what my truck had originally.
If it is an inline...I think the 250 towers can be retained....and only the odd ball forward mount on a 292 needs to be swapped.
Nothing wrong with setting the engine in the inline position, esp if hooking up to original 3 or 4 speed manual tranny. Much easier that way, plus no drive shaft mods.
A 4X4 fan shroud will work perfectly up front if small block is in the inline location.
