I did have to make clearance for the heads of the bolts. If you look at the pictures close you can see how I did that HERE. I cut two slots in my lens mounting plate that I welded to the hinge. The lens does stick out a little more than the stock lens but only about a 1/16". Not really even noticeable, in my opinion. It sticks out a little more in the front than in the rear. Again it's really not noticeable. You wouldn't know it's there just looking at the side of the bed.

You are doing a good job and kudos for just jumping into that mod. It was a pain for sure. I spent a ton of time on mine. I've since forgot how many hours....but the next one I do I'll have a pattern to look at.
