as far as i can tell it only subscribes you to a thread if you post in it. then it sends you an email note when the next person replies to the thread. there is a link in the email note. i cant seem to turn of that email note in settings myself.
so i just quit posting in threads that have no lols.
of course that information you probably knew and you are being facetious.
