When my dad and I built the driveshaft, I also put a slip yoke in the rear driveshaft like the 4 wheel drive guys use, so the driveshaft wouldn't be trying to move forward and backward and beat out my carrier bearing.
hard to see in this pic but this is a whole new dirveshaft with cpp carrier bearing setup and slip yolk in the rear shaft, so i am set on that. I am thinking about cutting out the floor pan section you are talking about. I need to put the shaft in there to see how much room i need.
