As much work as I've done to my car (and you have done to yours), I look at it like its a no-brainer to go ahead and cut the floor and raise the tunnel as a "just-in-case" measure. I don't want to get all of the interior redone and start driving the car and have problems and have to pull all of the rear upholstery out and redo it.
