AAW may not support using the original gauge, but it has nothing to do with fire or the alternator.

EVERY electrical gauge you will ever see is an ammeter, or you wouldn't get an indication of the value (temp, fuel level, etc.) If it reads voltage, it carries current, end of story. That is how they work. By electrical gauges, I mean those that don't have a Bourdon tube, like mechanical oil pressure or temperature gauges.
