I think I might like to go with a volt gauge in Greenie if it would look ‘stockish’ so I’m subscribing to see what you got.

Franken is mostly correct. The GM system is safe if the fuses are not eliminated or replaced with larger current value fuses. If they are, the damage will be to the printed circuit for the instrument cluster and possibly the amp gauge itself as they will let the smoke out. Chrysler – that’s a different animal and has the potential for issues period. I know you know this, but for other members who may not - the GM amp gauge is a shunt type system and Chyrsler's amp gauge was a full load current type of system.
