What are the cam and valve spring specs? And did you coat the lobes and lifter faces with cam lube?

ZDDP level is higher in VR-1 than in most oils at the auto parts store, but it's nowhere close to what we had up until the 1990s. Of course, there are lots of $9.00/qt specialty oils with high levels of ZDDP, such as Joe Gibbs Driven, Brad Penn, etc.

If I ever install another flat tappet cam, I will most certainly use Driven BR30 break-in oil for the first 400 miles. http://www.drivenracingoil.com/dro/b...ak-in-oilhtml/
