mgkgmc, Here are a couple matches to your "D" and one for your "R" Probably safe to say your truck was built at Freemont.
Those are painters marks/initials. They were done by the painter, just after they painted the cab and before the cab went into the "oven". They were scratched into the paint when it was wet. Those initials seem to be something that only the painters at Freemont did. Haven't seen them on trucks built at any other plants. I have found them from 65 to 72 at Freemont, both chevy and GMC, but not on every truck built..
