If you live near the ocean take the right measures to keep the rust away and make sure you '
rustcheck' (process) it every year.
I'm on the other coast near the ocean and the process pays off in spades for me.
Otherwise, the damp, salt air will start to work (bad) wonders from below...it only takes 2-3 years.
