I considered doing that with the clamp to "center" it. If I had a TIG I'd but a fine ripple on there, but with my MIG I'd end up with with too wide of a weld and casing a problem. I'm actually thinking about replacing that with a v-band because that area supports a little more weight than I planned on, but works well so far.
