The reason I'm telling you this is because when I remove a cable I take a wrench and place on the end then turn it and as it turns a 1/4 turn it closes those "wings" as you call them and then the clip can be pushed or pulled out of the housing that holds them. Is that something you might could try? Is there a center part that pulls out ? some clips have a center that pulls up or out that allows the rest of the clip to fit back through the hole. Jim
