'69 C10 No Start

Hey everyone I'm Scott, I recently purchased a '69 C10 (350sb) and I've run into some problems.

It was running fine for a while but every time I started, the starter would start cranking slower and slower and eventually stopped and all I would get is the solenoid click when I turned the key. I went through the steps in my Haynes and got to a step telling me to jump the S terminal on the Solenoid so I tried it and the only result I got was spark and more problems. I'm guessing I did something wrong but I cant figure out what. I now can't even get the Solenoid to click so I'm guessing there are some burnt up wires or something. I'm not exactly what you would call wiring savvy and I'm kind of lost now just poking around at different things not really getting much accomplished.

I'd appreciate any help if anyone wants to lay some knowledge on me.

Things to note:
1. I'm one of those "replace before you diagnose" guys so I now have a new:
-Starter/Solenoid
-ignition Switch
-Battery Cables/Connections (needed to be replaced anyway)
2. The wiring harness looks pretty butchered from the P.O.
3. The shifter(3sp auto) was relocated to the floor and it looks like what was the neutral safety switch is not connected/needed
4. Battery is showing 12v w/ multi-meter

Sorry for the long description and thanks in advance!
