If you're referring to the round pieces inside at the bottom of the master, I left them in on mine. The instructions for the master cylinder don't reference them at all. Since they fit so well, I figured they needed to be in there.

Just a guess, but I think they help dissipate the fluid coming into the master from the brakes, so it doesn't splash all over the lid, or out of it if the lid is off.
