Not necessarily. I'd say the air cleaner, brake booster (if painted), and the brackets for engine mounted accessories (A/C, alternator, power steering, etc.) were closer to semi-gloss However, they didn't look like a heavy paint application. The core support never struck me as satin either, but that may be due to the adjacent inner fenders being closer to a semi-flat black. The brackets usually appeared to be dipped. That said, I'd feel safe doing everything except the booster and air cleaner with satin since the gloss level may vary by manufacturer.

I used to wax my air cleaner. I think there would have been a lot of residue left behind if it were satin.
