Who here is running a similar setup as a daily? How do you like it?
I DD a 70 LWB with a 350/350 for a few months until a guy at work had to have it worse than I did. This taught me a lot of the things that I really wanted so when I built my one owner short step I put them all in. It has a 6.0 LY6 with a HD 6 speed auto. This truck is probably over-done for DD purposes, but it is amazing to drive. I like the LS for its reliability and fuel economy. I also own a '70 SWB with a 350/700. Both are amazing trucks but the "old school" truck gets taken out 1/4 of the time. Both are very reliable and both have seen a bunch of miles since I built them. They are very comparable trucks, but I just like the power and smooth ride of the LS. I have never had an over-heating issue from the LS.

The only regret I have is building the LS truck so nice. I wish I could throw stuff in the bed and not care, but it has mesquite wood in it...

The one thing I would tell you is the major difference is leg room. I'm not tall at 5'11" and I have Cadilliac CTS seats in it and it is still a bit tight. My wife and I have taken many road trips in this truck and even taken our 85lb doberman with us (I remove the center console). Can DD be done, absolutely! I recommend driving one a while before you tie up a bunch of money into one so you know first hand what you are getting into. If you already know, then go for it!
