I had flowmasters on an 84 monte carlo first with an h pipe which I loved the sound. Due to a transmission swap I had to get rid of the h pipe and hate the sound of it. I would say try an h pipe first. If you dont like the sound after that try different mufflers. The manifolds will not do anything for the drone.
