That kind ( AV8 ) forms a hard film that's reddish and dry to the touch. They also make AV30 which forms a soft wax like bacon grease. When I worked in aircraft maintenance, we sprayed AV30 over top of dry AV8 for the ultimate seal. The soft waxy film gets in everywhere and doesn't chip off.
If you decide to spray this stuff, a full-face respirator and tyvek suit is a good idea. One thing about about aviation chemicals - they work great but are really TOXIC.
