Re: Air compressor: rebuild or replace pump?

Dredging up an old post. I'm finally getting around to installing the Schulz MSL 10 Max pump I got in the fall. The online pulley calculator I found says that my 3450rpm motor with a 4.25" pulley will spin the 10" pulley on the Schulz pump 1466rpm. The Schulz website says my pump should spin at 860rpm. Will the 606rpm increase be too much for it?

If I can install the old pumps 14" pulley it brings the rpm down to 187 over the recommended pump speed.

On the other hand if I find a 2.5" motor pulley it puts me almost spot on Schulz's 860rpm

Am I missing anything here?

Thanks

Paul
