I bought my panel from a carpet layer. He had been hauling and laying carpet out of it for about 4 years. I drove it some over the next couple of years but it was always rough riding and the drum brakes weren't cutting it in Houston traffic. When I pulled the spindles to swap in the discs, I took the passenger side spring out in 3 pieces. It rides a lot better and doesn't make near the noise now.
I'm pretty sure he had a much bigger load in it a few times than you have in yours.
