I installed an Ididit automatic column and made a bracket to hold it in the stock location and it works great. I don't care for the look of the drop brackets either, plus with the stock seat the steering wheel would be on my legs.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, my truck is apart for paint right now. I would recommend mocking it up and sitting in the truck. Make sure it's comfortable and the steering wheel isn't blocking the gauges. The steering wheel diameter will make a difference also, so be sure whatever you use for mock up is the same size your steering wheel will be when finished.
