I guess there's a couple of ways to shorten the long bed, I chose this route, worked for me. The rivets took the longest time getting off. I should've went to Harbor freight and bought a air chisel.



I know people do the fish plate if you "Z" the frame. Before everyone with a keyboard starts in with comments. I cut plates for the top/bottom for the inside of the frame. Then I did the same on the outside of frame.



Tear down starts. Buddy helped me rip everything out of the cab. The seat cushion was of course destroyed. Power washed the cab as best that I could. Next photo is interesting...

Funny story about the small block. I asked my neighbor if he would like to have the engine. We pulled it, gave it to him for FREE! Two weeks later I show up at my house and the engine is in my driveway!!! Yup, said he's moving and can't take it with him...



My lift showed up and I was figuring out the distance for the post.



Cab off and time to really dig in.
