Why?

More performance, more HP, more reliability at less than 1/2 the price of a comparable Olds 455. I had a 455 in it for 35 years, good performance BUT nothing compared to the 468 BBC.

A very easy swap. I just used the Chevy motor mount hardware, mount holes were predrilled from the factory. The engine dropped right in. I didn't have to drill or modify anything for the swap. The BBC is physically smaller and weighs about 50 pounds less than the Olds. And it drives Olds fanatics crazy.

Besides all that the Olds 455 is one butt ugly engine.

After all starting in the 70s GM was using was swapping all their engines between all their cars.
