Some amount of this is normal, apparently 5 drgrees is 'un-noticeable' to customers although I too feel it. Beyond that you would have to slot the toe plate and check the shaft for clearance and the shift lnkage for binding.
Non of that will work. The slot in the bottom of the dash prevents it. It's just how these trucks were built. All you can do is, if you have buckets, move the drivers closer to the door a bit.
