You may have the NY titles that were issued prior to them becoming exempt. I have the NY title that was issued in 1969 for my rusted out 1969 Dodge Polara parts car. It's in my grandfather's name in a file folder along with the actual legal transfer paperwork from the executor of his estate. That title is not a legal title document anymore in NY or any other state.
I also have a NH title that was issued in 1992 on my 1984 Rabbit GTI that became title exempt in 1994. Again. Just an amusing piece of official looking paper that's of no real use.


From the NH DMV FAQ page. "New Hampshire does not title motor vehicles that have a model year of 1999 or older."
