I have 3 of the 1406 on SBC with edel. intakes on all of them 3yrs + and none of them have fuel press. issues on stock pumps. All of them ran straight out of box with very little problems that were addressed with a spring or metering rod adj. You will need some kind of linkage like you posted or 1 of the other ideas mentioned above and a gasket/ plate kit like they mentioned then install and see if you can get it dialed in unless you have money to throw at it ,then get 1 of everything
