And put burlap on the bottom of the foam also. May help with the spreading of the seat springs. When I was rehabbing mine the springs were tied with string in places, only assume it was for that. |
You are correct.
I worked in an upholstery place for the High School work program back in the 60’s and the springs are always tied first the opposite direction the springs ran about 4” apart in rows and secured to the frame. This is what kept your springs from shifting when you sit down. If I remember correctly the burlap came next followed by a layer of cotton and then foam followed by a piece of jute...something like that. Upholstery lessons are everywhere online. YouTube has a bunch. If the springs aren’t secured with twine the whole seat will shift
