I experimented with my tailgate using salt as well, but I have been trying to think of a method to use for the pieces that can't be set flat. (bed sides, cab, fenders...)

The only thing I can think of so far is either thick dish soap, or spray foam sprayed from a distance, but haven't tried yet.
