I replaced the unit, and before the truck had consumed a tank of gas, the gauge failed again.. The new float had developed a leak in the soldered seam.. I replaced the float with the spare I had ordered.. In a brief period, the second float failed at the seam also.. I contacted the company I bought the sending unit from and they sent me a replacement sending unit.. That was about a month ago, while the unit was still within the one year warranty.. Well ---- you guessed it.. Another float has failed.. I don't know what's causing so many floats to fail in the same area, but this time I'm looking at a different fix for the problem..

I have had the same problem. I bought a plastic float that was identical to the brass ones. Problem solved https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
