If you are wanting a square body, I would wait until I found one with disk brakes or air brakes. I still get nervous carrying full loads with 50 year old drum brakes. Although I completely redid them. Expect most everything to cost more than a 1/2 ton truck and not everyone will work on the older stuff.
As for the hoist, I would go with pto driven over electric. Going to operate faster.
Dont expect much in fuel mileage; dont be in a hurry; probably wont find one with air conditioning. But they are a whole lot of fun to drive.
